Prevention is the Key to Keeping The Legs You Stand On

Prevention is the Key to Keeping the Legs You Stand On

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure ~ Benjamin Franklin

The best medicine ever known to man is prevention. While hereditary diseases, including diabetes, may not be completely preventable, the risks associated with the illness can be greatly reduced and many symptoms can be diminished by exercising proper self-care and following the expert advice given by your medical professionals. Taking the responsibility for your health is the key to any wellness plan. Your doctor cannot do it all for you. Neither can your spouse or other caregiver. Your health is up to you. That includes educating yourself about your illness and understanding the complications that go along with it. Knowing what you can do to self-manage your diabetes and foot health and when to get professional care can go a long way in helping you avoid amputation. Prevention is especially important when healthcare is not readily available or made affordable to everyone.
My book Keep the Legs You Stand On is intended for people everywhere who suffer with diabetes. The book will take you all over the world and show what is going on in different countries—from the latest treatments available to the limitations on healthcare in other nations. I have not only called upon my own personal 30-year experience as a podiatrist, I have gathered information from national and international experts in order to help you better understand what you are up against and what hope there might be for a future cure of this horrible disease.
My book will be available through Nightengale Press and Amazon.com on or before January 1, 2009. Check back later for more details.
